About Knights Electric

Founded in 1976 by Bob and Liz Knight, the company began with a simple vision: provide exceptional electrical work at a fair price while delivering unmatched customer service. What started as a two-person operation has grown into a trusted leader in commercial, industrial, and high-end residential electrical services throughout the greater Bay Area.

Before founding Knight’s Electric, Bob Knight worked as a hod carrier in the plaster industry. In his early 30s, he decided there had to be a better way to provide for his family and pursued a career as an electrician. Through years of hands-on experience in lumber mills and winery industries, Bob developed extensive expertise in industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and electrical installations.

With Liz managing the administrative side of the business and Bob leading operations in the field, the company quickly earned a reputation for honesty, reliability, and quality workmanship. Those same values continue to guide Knight’s Electric today.

Today, the second generation of the Knight family continues to lead the company forward. Daughter Barbara Ragsdale served as President and CEO until her retirement in 2026, while sons Rob Knight (Treasurer/Secretary) and Art Knight (President & CEO) have dedicated their careers to continuing the vision established by Bob and Liz.

Now, a third generation of the family has proudly joined the company. Sarah Knight supports accounting operations through AP and AR services, Luke Knight serves as a Journeyman Electrician, and Ashton Knight is continuing the family tradition as an Apprentice Electrician.

From new commercial construction and industrial electrical systems to custom residential projects and preventative maintenance services, Knight’s Electric continues to deliver the same commitment to excellence that Bob and Liz established nearly 50 years ago.
